Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is coming to your PS5 on February 29, 2024. Square Enix, the Japanese video game company, announced the release date. Fans are seeking every piece of information, and undoubtedly, the most essential information is the list of playable characters in the upcoming game.
Final Fantasy VII is an action role-playing game with many playable characters to combat the notorious antagonist. We have extracted all the necessary details that Square Enix has revealed.
They also spilled some beans on the gameplay of the upcoming Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, which is very intriguing, as showcased in the trailer. The upcoming game has cogent gameplay with characters who already have compelling arcs. Square Enix has confirmed ten playable characters as of now. Some of them are returning, while others are relatively new. Let’s see who these characters are and how you can benefit from their strength and harness their powers.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Character: Playable Characters Comeback
The Final Fantasy VII games are nothing without their primary characters. These characters hold together the gameplay and the storyline. And now, after their successful ventures in previous games, they are ready to make a mind-blowing comeback in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. Square Enix is infamous for composing a nuanced background for its characters. And who has the most exhilarating story in the game? The protagonist, indeed.
Cloud Strife Is Back
Cloud Strife is sharp as a tack and smooth as silk. His fighting skills make him invincible, and his weapons make him lethal for foes.
Cloud is the fateful and charming man who arrived in Midgar (the city in which all this is happening) with a dream to become a mercenary. He is a former member of the elite force group SOLDIER, a source responsible for wiping out life from the planet. His conscience did not allow him to continue. Now he has questions, and his quest to find the answers and avenge them continues in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.
He is a swordsman who carries huge broadswords in battles, including the infamous Buster Sword. Additionally, Enix decides to keep his old fighting style, which enables him to swiftly switch between his fighting style and carrying the broadsword. Apart from that, he specializes in mobility, and his counterattacks are helpful for the group.
He is a courageous fighter, possessing extraordinary abilities. In previous games, he fought on land and in the air as well. As Enix also retains this ability, players will be able to take the fight to the air in Rebirth.
Barret Wallace is the second playable character in the Final Fantasy 7 series. He is as important as the protagonist, and like Cloud, he is also a planet lover. He is the team’s motivator and is included in the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.
Barret Wallace is the Messiah of Avalanche and is very useful with all his prowess and quintessential persona. Besides, he is also known for his passion and hatred for the destroyers of the planet. In Rebirth, he once again chooses to fight off Sephiroth’s sinister plans to protect his daughter at all costs, all while grieving the loss of his best friend. It is evident this huge man is coming back with all his sturdiness and immense strength in the upcoming game.
The best news for fans is that Barret’s gun arm will be accessible to them in the game. Apart from that, Enix also retains Barret’s other qualities, including his ranged attacks to hit the enemy, both in the air and on the battlefield.
It is nearly impossible for Square Enix to forget the strong and independent fighter and childhood friend of the protagonist, Tifa Lockhart.
Enix has retained the conscientious playable character of Tifa. She is known for her opinions and her weapon, the gloves. Apart from being opinionated, she is also a skilled martial artist. In Rebirth, she returns to fight quick combats with her impeccable martial arts skills.
Aerith Gainsborough, or Aeris, is the liveliest Final Fantasy 7 playable character. She is a flower seller living in the slums of Midgar, and her fighting skills are exceptional. Enix is trying to do something interesting here by retaining Aerith, as she is the last of the descendants of the Cetra, an ancient race possessing magical powers.
Naturally, her skills include casting spells, so she is sought by the Shinra Electric Power, who want to misuse her powers. She returns to help her friends, but more so to help her planet. Besides her exciting background, she possesses unique limited abilities, including restorative powers. All these qualities and her staves make her a much-needed addition in battles. Interestingly, she and Tifa are very close friends, and fans are interested in discovering how their characters unfold in the upcoming game.
Along with these characters, many other playable characters did not get a chance to leave their mark in the Remake. So, Enix decides to reintroduce them in Rebirth. Let’s have a look at those characters who are returning as playable characters.
The Ultimate Ninja, Yuffie Kisaragi
The ultimate ninja fighter, Yuffi Kisaragi, got only a bonus chapter in Remake. So, she is making her comeback in the series. Her close- and long-ranged combat will be an inclusion in the Cloud’s group. Unlike Aerith, she does not have to rely on spells to defeat foes, as her incredulous ninjutsu is displayed every time. Her aerial attacks and dual blades are lethal when combined with her incredible techniques.
The only quadrupedal playable character in Final Fantasy 7, Red XIII, is joining the gang again. This time, not as a guest but as the main character. The fierce, crimson-colored creature is an intelligent character and will be a great addition to Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. It will be interesting to harness the powers of this playable character. It should not be surprising that players who can utilize abilities and the abnormally long lifespan of this red beast will shine in the upcoming Rebirth game.
Red XIII, or Nanaki, is a ferocious character with an unusual weapon, a collar. The relentless red beast is ready to unleash his superpowers.
The Adorable Cait Sith
Cait Sith is the only mechanic playable character in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. He is the fortune teller who has often helped Cloud and his gang with his wisdom. The robotic and muscular tuxedo cat sits on top of a robotic mog. He likes to give orders through his megaphone. His only weapons are his adorable face and his sagacious personality.
The infamous antagonist is as loved as its enemy, Cloud. In Rebirth, he plans to rule the world and change the course of destiny. He is a sadist and likes mentally torturing Cloud. Seeing how Sephiroth is portrayed in Final Fantasy 7 will be interesting. Since he was scarier in the original FF7 because of his unpredictability, seeing how Enix maintains his fear amongst the gang in FF7 Rebirth will be thrilling.
Zack, Cloud, and Sephiroth worked together as soldiers. Fans long expected Zack to get a better role in the remake trilogy. In Rebirth, Zack is hopefully returning with some layers to his character, and fans may see a display of the love between Aerith and him.
Chadley Is Back to Assist
Chadley got a minor role in Final Fantasy 7. He was an intern at Shinra. Enix makes him one of the Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth playable characters, and let’s wait to see how his character unfolds in the Rebirth.
The Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth playable characters are in perfect harmony, and their balanced approach brings excitement to the game. These are the confirmed characters of Rebirth, but the additional characters will be revealed with the release of the game. Square Enix has a way to include additional playable characters with cohesive backgrounds.
