Ubisoft’s XDefiant release date announced

Inspired by combat games such as Far Cry and Splinter Cell, XDefiant is finally coming out.

Ubisoft’s soon-to-be-released XDefiant, a free-to-play FPS game, has finally announced its release date. Despite facing multiple delays and challenges, the game is set to launch on May 21st for PC, Xbox Series X, and PS5, according to the site’s official page.

In its announcement, Ubisoft did not address the possibility of XDefiant on PC via platforms such as Steam release or the Epic Games Store.

The game will be available exclusively on Ubisoft’s launcher for PC players. The preseason kicks off on May 21st at 10 am PT/1 pm ET and lasts six weeks before Season 1 officially begins.

XDefiant Game Launch Content 

Upon release, XDefiant will introduce 14 maps, 10 of which are “arena” style maps and 4 of which are “progression” style maps. Additionally, the game comes with five playable factions. Players can participate in 5 modes and use a combination of weapons.

The launch includes a 4v4 Ranked mode, including the Domination, Occupy, Escort, and Zone Control game modes.

After the initial launch, new seasons will roll out approximately every three months, introducing fresh content such as maps, factions, and weapons. Year 1 aims to introduce four additional factions, 12 weapons, and 12 maps, augmenting the content available at launch. Each season will come with a 90-tier Battle Pass.

XDefiant, Ubisoft’s upcoming competitor to Call of Duty, is currently being developed at its San Francisco studio. Spearheaded by Mark Rubin, who previously served as an executive producer at Infinity Ward, the studio behind Modern Warfare, the game aims to challenge the Call of Duty franchise’s dominance.
