New Tales From the Borderlands Release Date Leaked

There was no official release date, gameplay, or teaser about the Tales From the Borderlands sequel until now.

In April, Gearbox announced that a sequel of Tales From the Borderlands would be released later this year.

It was announced that the sequel would be developed in-house by Gearbox rather than outsourcing it to a studio like Telltale, who developed the first part of the game.

The fact that the sequel is being developed without help from Telltale has raised alarms for many people, including myself. I appreciate the previous work by Gearbox but am not fully sure about their writing, especially with a game like Tales From the Borderlands.

New Tales From the Borderlands Expected Release Date

The expected release date and in-depth synopsis of the sequel were leaked by Amazon listings and were first noticed by a Twitter user, Wario64.

The listings revealed the expected release date, box art, and the sequel’s title.

The sequel is “New Tales From the Borderlands” and is set to release for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, and presumably PC on October 21st.

Leaked in-depth Synopsis and Description

“Take a stand against ruthless corporate overlords in this narrative-driven adventure,” reads the listing’s description. “Within the perpetually war-torn metropolis of Promethea, you’ll control Anu, Octavio, and Fran on the worst day of their lives. Help these three lovable losers as they endeavour to change the world (and maybe even save it)! Face down a planetary invasion, vicious vault monster, and cold-hearted capitalist in this cinematic thrill ride where what happens next is up to you!”

The setting and story of the sequel are completely new. According to Gearbox, the sequel will focus on a new cast of characters and stories.

There is no connection between the first part and the sequel but only a rumour that one of the three protagonists is a sibling to Fiona. I believe that this is the only connection between the two parts.

Expected Cost of the New Tales From the Borderlands Deluxe Edition

The Amazon listings suggested that the New Tales From the Borderlands Deluxe Edition would cost around $50. This suggests that the normal game will be priced around $30 to $40.

It’s pretty good pricing compared to the game’s first part.

When We Can Expect an Official Announcement

Gamescom is just around the corner. After the details of the sequel leaked, many believe the game will get an official announcement live at Gamescom in August.

After the leaks, the studio received no response about the game. But it likely gets announced officially at Gamescom by Gearbox.

About The Story Of New Tales From the Borderlands

According to the leaked Amazon listings description, the game will be a five-part/chapter story. It will be available to play all at the same time once the game is released. This is unlike most Telltale games, where you must wait months for a new chapter.

The New Tales From the Borderlands is set in the war-torn metropolis of Promethea. Players can control three new protagonists: Anu, Octavio, and Fran.

In contrast to her street-smart brother, Octavio, Anu is an altruistic scientist. Fran likes to throw yogurt at her enemies as a form of vengeance.

During their adventures, they will face various difficulties, and the story will unveil according to the players’ choices. Everyone player can expect a different ending based on their choices.

Conclusion

The fans’ main concern about the New Tales From the Borderlands is that there is no continuation of the story, and there is no input from the original developer, Telltale, who developed the first Tale From the Borderlands.

Fans hope that Gearbox lives up to the legacy of the first part and there are no blunders regarding the game’s story. They hope there is still a Comedy and Sci-fi touch in the new part.
