A new OLED iPad Pro is coming: Everything We Know

Rumors say that the iPad Pro is ready to roll over in the next few weeks, and since then, it has been the most talked-about topic. This hype is generally because of the possibility of major updates in the iPad Pro series since Apple introduced it in 2018 and the introduction of the M1 Chip in 2021, and several games like Warzone are becoming available for the platform.

Mark Gurman has confirmed the launch of the OLED iPad Pro and iPad Air, further adding that the new models will also bring new accessories like the magic keyboard with aluminum finish, front-facing camera with landscape orientation, and Apple pencil (the launch of the Apple pencil is not yet confirmed). So, let’s explore what the rumors offer us about Apple’s most-awaited new launches.

Will the new OLED iPad Pro be released in March 2024?

In Power on Newsletter 2023, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reported that Apple is planning to launch its new iPad models, namely the OLED iPad Pro and iPad Air, at the end of March 2024, as it has already started mass production. He also noted that these models are under production and will be available for users soon, all with the newest and major updates of its history. Another leaker, Majin Bu, also seconded this information. Yet, there hasn’t been an official announcement from Apple. So, we still have to wait a bit longer until the rumors regarding the new launches come true.

OLED iPad Pro: What new Features are expected?

Display & Screen Sizes

The major revamp in the new OLED iPad Pro is the switch from LCD to OLED display screens. You all know that the 11-inch Model of the iPad Pro uses an LCD presently, the same as it was at its launch in 2018. However, the 12.9-inch Model of iPad Pro uses a mini LED display screen, which Apple introduced in 2021, but with the same backlighting as the 11-inch Model. So, the significant difference in display between the 11-inch iPad Pro and the 12.9-inch iPad Pro is the switch from LCD to Mini LED display.

Yet, this time, the complete iPad Pro lineup will settle on one OLED screen display for the first time. Surprisingly, Apple will also use OLED screens for the first time in models other than the iPhone and Apple Watch. This OLED display will offer balanced black levels. With the change in display, the larger size is also rumored, implying there can be iPad Pro models of 11- And 13-inch Sizes.

M3 Chip

According to rumors, Apple will also expect to incorporate the M3 chip in the 11-inch and 13-inch models. This implies that the 13-inch OLED panels with an M3 chip will be more powerful than their previous versions. Yet, we hope Apple also lifts some of the limitations, unlike in the past, to make the most of it.

Dimensions:

We can’t deny that all the iPad Pro Models have remained the same since 2018, but the major revamp is incomplete without dimensions. The new OLED iPad Pro models will be thinner in dimensions and have fewer layers than the current panels, implying that the current 11-inch iPad Pro model is 247.6 mm, but the new 11-inch iPad Pro is 249.7mm. This feature will be possible primarily because of the OLED display in the new iPad Pro.

Prices

However, the all-new upgrade of the iPad Pro’s OLED display and M3 Chip sounds attractive, but it can also mark a significant price increase. Some rumors note that the starting prices for 11-inch versions will be $1500 and $1800 for 12.9-inch versions. Although it is just a rumor, and Apple hasn’t provided anything, you can expect a price hike considering the 2024 updates.

So, the new OLED iPad Pro models—11-inch iPad Pro and 12.9-inch IPAD Pro Air—with an increase in display size, addition of M3 Chip, and change in dimensions are expected at the end of March 2024. These next-generation iPad Pro models will accompany new accessories—Apple Pencil and a magic keyboard—to make the experience more worthwhile.
