At CinemaCon on Thursday, Paramount Animation unveiled Transformers One, the first animated Transformers film in forty years. The first trailer and an extended scene in 3D from the Josh Cooley-directed movie were screened exclusively to participating exhibitors and journalists. The film was introduced by Scarlett Johansson with a pre-recorded greeting, followed by Chris Hemsworth and Brian Tyree Henry in person onstage. (On April 18, the official trailer will be unveiled.)
In his opening lines, Hemsworth remarked, “I am so excited to play a young Optimus Prime and reveal a side of this character that audiences haven’t seen before.” He also mentioned his undisclosed role in the legacy he now gets to share with original voice actor Peter Cullen.
The long-awaited origin narrative of how Orion Pax and D-16, two of the most iconic characters in the Transformers universe, went from being brothers-in-arms to being sworn adversaries, Optimus Prime and Megatron, is told in Transformers One, according to the official logline.
Hemsworth plays Orion Pax, Johansson plays Elita-1, Henry plays D-16, and Keegan-Michael Key plays B-127, a Bumblebee prototype. Jon Hamm, Laurence Fishburne, and Steve Buscemi are among the other voice actors.
Transformers One was animated by ILM in a manner distinct from those of Disney, Pixar, or even Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem from Paramount. It has a more computerized, steely appearance appropriate for a story that takes place in Cybertron years before the Autobots and Decepticons would wreak havoc on the planet. This Cybertron retains its vitality and sense of life.
Transformers One Movie Cast
Prepare yourselves for this one: as Transformers fans, we all know that Mr. Peter Cullen, whose voice will always hold a particular place in our hearts, has voiced Optimus Prime up until this point. Regarding the cast of Transformers One, Chris Hemsworth—Marvel’s God of Thunder—will provide the voice of Optimus Prime.
How will Megatron, Optimus Prime’s adversary, miss him if he is present? Brian Tyree Henry joined the group alongside Chris Hemsworth to play Megatron. In addition to being a member of the ensemble, Scarlett Johansson will provide the voice of Elita, a female Transformer who accompanied Optimus on his hunt for Energon.
In April 2020, it was announced that Josh Cooley, the executive producer who had been engaged to helm the movie, was supervising Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari’s script. Hasbro Entertainment and Paramount Animation would produce the movie.
The Transformers Movies in (Chronological) Order
The expanded 3D sequence shows the three young stowaways, Orion Pax, D-16, and B-127, stumbling onto an Elita-1-operated supply train headed for the surface world, a place they have never been before.
Orion informs Elita-1 that they are on a mission to the surface world in order to obtain the Matrix of Leadership after they first argue with her. Elita-1 wants them off the train so she won’t be demoted (again). They will be able to gain the capacity to change and reach their greatest potential as a result. The surface of Cybertron changes during their journey above ground, with enormous rock shafts shooting out of the earth and into the sky. More video games and films featured the four “bots” realizing their abilities and, to hilarious effect, turning into automobiles for the first time. Imagine a young superhero like Spider-Man clumsily testing out their newly acquired powers for the first time.
The primary lesson to be learned from Transformers is that the comedic tone of the footage is different from its unique animation style; it’s younger, funnier, and more appropriate for a family audience than some fans might anticipate. The lighthearted conversation amongst its maturing characters reminded us more of the Ninja Turtles than of the solemn and unwavering Optimus Prime.
Although Paramount has not yet officially announced a date for the trailer’s release. The Hollywood Handle and Daniel RPK have claimed that the first trailer for Transformers One will debut on April 18, 2024. Although, we have Sonic the Hedgehog 3, and Mayor of Kingstown season 3 in the pipeline with confirmed details by Paramount.
