“It will be released in December,” Lee said through an interpreter.
Secondly, the first season came out nearly four years ago. People are fickle and it is not unusual that they might lose interest after a long gap. Thus, making it difficult to replicate the numbers that Season 1 of Squid Game did.

The new cast members might be playing new contestants recruited by the salesman to participate in the twisted games orchestrated by the Front Man.
The return of Lee Jung-jae as Seong Gi-hun and Wi Ha-joon as Hwang Jun-ho in Squid Games Season 2 suggests that these two characters might be both motivated to put an end to the Game. Their efforts to sabotage the Game could unfold alongside the struggles of the new contestants, or they might find themselves compelled to re-enter the Game despite their opposition.
Creator Hwang Dong-hyuk, who will write and direct every episode, has hinted at the possibility of bringing back characters who died in the first season. This suggests that Squid Game season 2 might include flashbacks or unexpected twists related to the events of the first season. However, Hwang has stated that he will not simply repeat the same plot with a new set of characters.
